Homeschool Enrichment Programs

Nature-based play, learning, and connection for ages 5-18

Our Vision

We envision a world where children are inspired to run through woods and parks with more joy and curiosity than they find on a screen. We create immersive experiences in nature that awaken wonder, resilience, and a deep sense of belonging.

The Kiva Center Homeschool Enrichment Programs' mission is to inspire lifelong learners who are dedicated to positive action in their communities. By nurturing socio-emotional well-being in community and teaching practical life skills, we empower the next generation to understand their innate interconnectedness with the land and cultivate the knowledge and skills needed for regenerative living.

Our Homeschool Enrichment program brings this mission to life through outdoor immersion, community-centered social-emotional development, and hands-on skills that foster responsible stewardship of the Earth. At The Kiva Center, we seek to rekindle a deep sense of home within the natural world that lives in every human being.

We offer multi-age groups including:

  • New Middle Age Group: Ages 10-14

  • Mixed-Age Community Days: Ages 5-12

  • Eagles: Ages 12-18

The Homeschool Enrichment Programs take place on our beautiful 80-acre site in Lefthand Canyon, only ten minutes from Boulder. This stunning natural gathering place is situated where creek, prairie, and mountains meet. With its towering rock formations, dense pine forests, and the soothing flow of Lefthand Creek, the land provides an ideal, immersive environment for exploration, learning, and connection.

Nature Connected Play/Hands-on Learning

A balanced approach to structured and unstructured nature connected activities awaken and attune children's senses to their world, deepen their curiosity and compassion for the Earth, and tap into their intuition.

The hands-on skill-building are practical in nature, helping kids to feel empowered to overcome challenges while gaining knowledge and abilities for environmental stewardship. May include survival, traditional arts, archery, tracking, and naturalist knowledge.

Socio-Emotional Learning

Curative Storytelling: Using metaphor and patterning, children are guided re-frame traumatic or unhelpful inner-narratives so they can blossom into stories of healing and growth.

Sit Spots: A daily ritual where each child chooses a special spot to visit to engage in quiet and contemplative reflection and observation of their inner world in relation to their surroundings.

Community Council: A social technology to practice deep listening, sharing and honoring unique perspectives as well as a way to build trust, and resolve conflicts while speaking and listening from the heart.

Service-Centered Leadership

A special time of each day where children get real, hands-on experience helping out with a project on the land such as chopping wood, making tea, planting, land stewardship, and other general community care projects.

Groups also periodically take field trips that include acts of service for other organizations such as assisting in processing honey, preparing meals for working animals, collecting eggs, and more.

The kids love attending the program and seem to be thriving. We also enjoy getting to know all of the other families, since it feels like we share many ideals around how we raise and educate our children. Kiva also feels very supportive with our vision of education. - Parent
The experiences my daughter has had over the past three years have grown her self-confidence, empathy for others, friendships and skills. She loves everything she does at Kiva and the mentors are incredibly supportive.

We love Kiva! Our kiddo has had a great time and loves the opportunity to be outdoors, do fun activities, socialize with peers, and learn about the natural world. We also appreciate how kind and supportive the mentors have been and are glad to have him in such a nurturing space. - Parent
